UWGB to offer summer Spanish course Once again UW-Green Bay will offer the summer Spanish course for professionals Aug. 10-14. This four-day program is specified for specific fields of employees and caters to all levels. It meets at the Stony Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. Registration for the program is due July 24, with the cost being $395 for non-credit instruction; $523.68 for two undergraduate credits in Spanish; or $814.04 for two graduate credits in education. The fees for all three include breakfast, lunch and breaks.

UWGB to houseplant sale

The heirloom plant sale May 16 begins at 9 a.m. in the Lab Sciences Building Greenhouse. Numbers will be passed out beginning at 7:30 a.m. All plants are $1.50 with proceeds to benefit the natural sciences department.

Man found dead on pine street ramp

The police have yet to release the identity of the man found dead below the Pine Street Ramp on Madison Street in Green Bay. The man was found around 9:24 a.m. on May 3. Forensic team is analyzing cause of death.

Ledgeview and Bellevue to introduce single-stream recycling

The Bellevue Village Board approved the transition from manual to automatic collection for a single stream recycling program at the end of April, after receiving frequent concerns from residents about trash and litter left around the community. Single-stream recycling allows residents to put all plastic, steel, glass and aluminum containers in one cart along with paper and cardboard. The recycling center then sorts the material. New age of homelessness in Green Bay With the economy in a downfall there is an increase of once well-to-do workers who are without a home. There has been a 15 percent increase in the number of not just homeless people, but homeless families. Shelters are filling to the brim and the face of the homeless is no longer just the stereotype, but rather the people who had, at one point, stable jobs.
